A November Friday
Cinnamon rolls, PJs, muddy socks, and cold crisp mornings that make my fingers tingle

Happy Friday!
We had a late start this morning, still as statues tucked under the warm, heavy covers. It’s officially chilly outside. The kind of cold that requires plants to come inside, an always full kettle, and cozy socks morning, afternoon and night. As if the holiday spirit caught a windy ride with the weather last night, it truly is beginning to feel a lot like Christmas around here.
While Bryan hauled in the last of our potted plants — W there to help — I baked some cinnamon rolls, our Friday tradition. The house always smells its best on Friday mornings, and this Friday it looks pretty and alive with all this green and terracotta.
I hope you’re doing well, finding comfort and belonging within your holiday traditions. It can be a troublesome, heart ache filled time of year, but also magical and wonderful, too. May a beautiful poem, a yummy treat, or a surprising butterfly find you and me and spark that magic we might desperately need.
It’s been an odd month, not horrible just different than expected. Sleep has been minimal (just means more time for play), and thus writing has been minimal, too. I was chatting with a friend about writing and busy seasons and just how difficult it can be to focus on the words when the two mix. I suppose that’s where I am, kind of. Instead of writing during his naps, I’m sleeping1 (even if I’m a bit groggy on those shorter nap days, it feels good to get some sleep). But I sure do miss Sonny. I’m in chapter three (have been for a while), and finding peace in this slow pace — sorry if I just keep teasing and teasing, but I do want to share real time effort with you. No fluff. I’m hoping to get back into Sonny’s skies soon.
I’m still in my pjs (it’s currently 2:12) with an old sweater on top. Tis the season for ultra coziness (and forgiveness and letting go).
Happy Thanksgiving! Wishing you left over goodness, stories by the fire, and smiles that’ll warm you all season long.
All the lovely things,
JH
Today I’m writing to you instead of sleeping and that feels good, too. I missed you and wanted to share our Friday with you!
